On Christmas morning I was driving with a full car of kids and presents going to visit my parents when out of the blue I hit a pothole on my passenger side going less than 25 MPH (I was driving through a neighborhood) followed by what sounded like a gunshot and a thick cloud of smoke that filled up my car. To my surprise my passenger side curtain airbag deployed along with the airbag on my passenger seat. I coasted to the curb with my airbag light, check engine light, and traction control light all flashing to let people behind me go around. My car started right back up again however, my kid brother, who was sitting in the rear passenger seat, has bruises and scrapes on his right arm, and my boyfriend, who was sitting in the passenger seat, has bruises on his neck and rib-cage. Three out of my five passengers had temporary hearing impairment after the airbags went off, not to mention I have a gaping hole in my passenger seat exposing the airbag housing now and my headliner is all bunched up. There is no damage to the exterior of my car from the pot hole, the tire is fully intact, and the handling is unchanged. There was no reason for my airbags to deploy and now I flinch at every road imperfection. I honestly just want my car fixed and for someone to assure me that this will not happen again.
