cheap mfg. 2001 V.W. Jetta, lousy gas m.p.g, burns oil excessively, 1 qt or more per month, fit and trim is junk, console and flip back armrest is broken, cheap plastic, poorly made, rear tail and brake lights burn out excessively, OIL USAGE, should be A Lawsuit for all this era Jettas', "check engine light,"..is never corrected for long. its' alright if you live next to a GA$ station and buy quarts' of 5W30 Motor Oil, as cheaply as possible, and just 'pour-it-in,' the Top engine valve cover screw-on lid.
Update from Sep 10, 2013: 2001 V.W. Jetta, has 79,000 miles on it, bought from Fairway Ford, Kingsport, Tn., burns oil, 1 qt. per 600 miles, has never been addressed, nor corrected
Update from Jul 15, 2015: the headlights sometimes don't come on for low beam so the dealership computer analysis say it needs the multifunctional light switch needs replacing, catalytic converter is defective. It is an oil burner. It needs front boots, tie-rods, new A.C. compressor, fan, bad compressor coil. 92, 135 miles 2001 V.W. Jetta
