A D V E R T I S E M E N T S
Okay, so I have a 2000 VW Jetta and for the past year and half (or more) I have been having on-going electrical/computer issues that NO ONE can diagnose. I just moved from Burlington, VT to Oakland, CA and regularly took my car to Lewis Volkswagen in Burlington, VT as well as a local foreign car mechanic. I have taken my car in AT LEAST 5 separate times (to the VW dealership) for this same problem: the airbag, emergency brake, battery light will come on with a loud beep and the car will suddenly stall (generally when it is stopped at a light, stop sign, etc). Then you have to turn the car off and when you turn it back on it will be okay. Oh, also the radio will go off when this happens and you have to manually turn the power button on to get it to come back on. This is the main problem--the stalling. Also, sometimes I will go to shut off my car and take the key out and the alarm goes off and I have to press "unlock" on my keyless entry to get it to stop. OR, I will turn the car off and take the key out and the radio will come back on! So then I will have to turn the key to the "on" position and take it back out and it will be fine. I am SO SICK of this problem and the fact that no one can give me any kind of reasonable answer, or any answer for that matter. I have had the alternator tested, it is 100% fine. The battery is fine. The dealership has run diagnostics multiple times on the engine and told me it's "ok". Clearly it's not. I have had the ignition switch replaced ($400) and it seemed to "fix" the problem for about 2 months and now it is back in full force. I have been told to just replace my alternator but at $1000 i don't think so. And no one can tell me if this will even FIX the problem! No one seems to know what the problem is. I am very very aggravated. PLEASE, if ANYONE knows of this problem, has had this problem, has FIXED this problem please let me know. I am desperate here and just feel like I have been literally throwing my money away on my car b/c no one can tell me what is wrong with it. THANK YOU!!!
