The consumer owns a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta. She said that in 2003 her rear tire blew out causing an accident and almost taking the life of her daughter. When the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs, dealer had to replace the wheel bearings and the wheel struts. On May 15, 2005 her husband checks the vehicle regularly to make sure it is safe. While checking the vehicle he noticed the wheel was loose. They took the vehicle back to a tire center and they said that everything would have to be replaced again.
Two wires of the rear defroster do not work which obstructs view--automatic transmission clicks loudly when shifting gears--radio/cassette player becomes extremely hot while driving--wheels make funny vibrating noise at certain speeds--paint job on body of vehicle has been scratching and peeling easily
While driving 60 mph the rear wheel on the driver's side broke from the axle, almost causing a crash. Manufacturer is aware of the problem. The vehicle will be repaired.
