UNKNOWN All LCD screens would not display an image including the one that displays the speed at which the vehicle is traveling. The only difference from normal was the car sitting in the sun for a few hours and the back of the LCDs being hot to the touch. Was able to remedy by running the AC on Lo with the car empty for about 20 minutes. The car did not have a visible speedometer or anything else available on that screen. There bottom row of icons did display on start up and did not show any errors. However I would say that it is a fairly big issue not knowing the speed you are going. I have seen on a VW ID forum other people having had this issue. Vehicle has a service appointment August 31 for this issue. Not yet for replication or inspection. There was no warning to these issues. I just got in the car after work and the screens did not come on and I did try restarting them vehicle twice. Attached photo is of the car on where it shows no display. I also have a video I will show the dealer tomorrow.

I have been trying to get access to this recall and Volkswagen is not helping. The local dealer did not have the capability but also would not arrange for it's shipment to the closest facility with the ability. It is electric and there are inadequate chargers to take it long distances for this recall, plus it would interfere with taking care of my work and family. The facility in Chattanooga I have contacted multiple times but they never call me back to schedule the fix. I made an online appointment several hours away in Nashville since weeks have gone by without word from Chattanooga, but doubt the car will be able to make it that far if there are ANY traffic issues getting there.

In April, 2023 I took my 2021 VW ID4 in for a recall service. At that time they discovered issues with the car-??s high voltage battery. This has led to a continual vehicle warning that my electrical system is not functioning properly and needs service. I was also told that the estimated range of the car is undependable, making trips of any distance impossible. I have had two service repairs scheduled, both canceled. The dealer now tells me that whatever is necessary for the repair has been back ordered to December. This means that my car will not have been fully functioning for eight months.VW continues to build ID4s but cannot keep those already sold in good repair.

VW issued a recall stating the following: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2021 ID.4 vehicles. Recall consequence: A reset or deactivation may cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Recall action: Dealers will update the HV battery management control unit and the pulse inverter control unit software, free of charge. On 5/10/2023 I got into the vehicle, started, put it in Drive, and noticed the FRONT PASSENGER DOOR was showing ajar in the instrument cluster. I grabbed the door and confirmed it had become unlatched and had to close it again. On 5/16/2023 I again was in the vehicle, in drive, but not moving when the FRONT PASSENGER DOOR opened on its own with no occupant. I reached over and closed the door, but the door locks became inoperative for several minutes.

Instrument cluster returned error "warnings and information not available. Drive with greater care!" While vehicle was in motion. Issue resulted in loss of speedometer and other systeam safety features including blind spot monitoring, lane assist etc. Loss of speedometer while in motion was of the largest concern. The car produces audible alerts for errors such as low tire pressure or low wiper fluid, but this critical error did not.

I contacted several local Volkswagen dealers regarding safety recall (Manufacturer Recall Number97ZZ, NHTSA Recall Number23V040) to get my vehicle repaired. None of them have parts associated with this repair and told me it will take more than a year to get them. I contacted VW customer service and they are unable to help resolve the issue. I am now forced to drive an unsafe car for more than a year. If VW cannot address this safety issue in a timely manner, I would like them to replace it with a safer vehicle without safety issues.
