While driving, there is this very annoying something happening in L peripheral and when you look to see it is the side view mirror just vibrating, and everything seen in the mirror is blurred. If I go over 50 the mirror appears to point upward and I only see the sky. If I then adjust mirror so as to see L side of view so I could change lanes or to just check surroundings, I see the ground if I slow down or stop. It is very dangerous unless you never make turns or only stay in center lane.
One week after it started while leaving my neighborhood the glass portion of mirror just fell off and crashed on road. I went back to get and it was chipped on end and broken in half. I went on line and found tons of people complaining about this problem. Seems the glue on back of mirror stops sticking to a piece of plastic that hold mirror assemble to the moving part. Went to dealer but I'm out of warranty. I have extended warranty and service advisor said warranty does not cover it. Now I have to pay $168.00 to buy part and fix myself when VW knows it has issues.
Update from Aug 30, 2021: I have an extended warranty and brought it to their attention before I brought it to the dealership to fix. It was eventually fixed by extended warranty but not the factory . I feel it is a safety issue and should have be covered by factory warranty.
