In December of 2023, was the second time I noted a leak in the roof after I just had it fixed in May of 2023. After a heavy rain one weekend, I noted that it was leaking again on the passengers side. Took the car back to the dealer where they then found that there was rusting around the brackets in the sunroof. Annoyed with the dealer as to why they did not see this issue back in May when I first brought it in, because it had only been a few months since the issue was first noted, so the severity of the problem could not have suddenly appeared. The quote for additional repairs was over $3500, and I had already paid over $2000 for the first set of repairs. The dealer offered me a $500 discount, however they said two of the parts they had no ETA on because they are on backorder.
Thus, I am stuck. Cannot get the sunroof repaired without parts and no timeline on when I can get it done. Oh, I and I called the number for sunroof settlement with Gjonbalaj v. Volkswagen group and they said since this second set of repairs would be occurring after the 80000 mileage extended warranty, I can no longer claim. IF THE DEALER would have noted the entirety of the issue in the first place, I would be able to claim all repairs! Again, I am stuck until parts are available or I decide to have a film or some type of seal placed on the sunroof rendering it inoperable :(
