I live in Chile and I had problems with the engine too.
Camshaft was the problem. VW calls me saying me they detect a failure in the engine, camshaft to be acurate. The girl who calls me said YES when I asked if was a RECALL.. She told me something about they were in a campaign (can´t rememeber the name, but sounds a little bit fancy).... .... and it consist and check the camshaft and all the system........ well, my car fails before the call, I was driving in a city highway in that moment and the engine switch off very fast, without warning in the control panel ... with 37.000 kms. brand new, 2015.... and this happened very very fast. After that, all the oil flood to the ground.
They told me is a VW problem, so the warranty will solve the problem without cost. BUT I work with my car, they haven´t another car for me. The most dangerous thing for me was when I was driving because is an area wth a lot of curves.
