I have a 2015 Volkwagen Golf TSi. It has 1,027 miles on it. I've owned it since 11/1/2014. Yesterday when it had less than 1025 miles on it as I drove away from my home I noticed the dashboard indicating that the passenger side rear door was open. I stopped to close it. I wasn't sure whether it was the front door or the rear door initially, so I opened and closed both. The indicator didn't change. So I checked both doors to make sure there was nothing impeding or caught in the door. Nothing. I checked the hatchback and the fuel door. Nothing on the dash changed. I turned the car on and off. Same thing. It was too late to call the dealership yesterday and today I called to make an appointment after checking to see if anything had changed. It hadn't.
I'm so sad and disappointed. Several weeks after purchasing my car it was named Car of The Year (in it's class.) by MotorTrend. I was so happy about that announcement. It made me feel proud I had chosen a good and reliable car.
So I'll be off to my first VW repair after just a thousand miles. My previous vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner didn't have a first repair until 86,000 miles. It was a rear light bulb for the parking light. It was a $2 item which I replaced myself. No other light ever went out on my Toyota while I owned it, 15 years and 150,000 miles later. I traded it in on this VW.
So disappointed in my VW. The gal at the dealership said this was becoming a common problem lately with the cold weather. What? In Germany they don't have cold weather? (We're just above freezing.) I will report back my findings after I take it in next week.
