3 year old car (but 6 months outside new car warranty) - engine fails going up steep incline on mountain road.
Towed to dealer to be told they were busy & would get to it when they could. Then told 2 days later that issue is the exhaust valve on cylinder 4 sticking shut & burning out spark plug & cylinder & causing engine to lose compression. Factory fault, no cause on my part. Perfectly maintained & cared for vehicle...
"Out of the goodness of their hearts" VW will replace faulty & damaged parts, but I have to pay $1000 plus for labor. I then wait for 20 days to be told that the car has "another problem" which was found when they were putting the engine back together. It has a "blemished cylinder head" apparently, so the dealer has to re-apply to VW to see if they are willing to exude anymore "goodwill" & replace the cylinder head..
