This door latch has been a constant nag for a long time. This problem used to happen only in the winter. The real problem is that it would freeze open! So you you couldn't close the door. It is now August and the spring to the latch is no longer grabbing. The cheap solution is a bungee cord, the more expensive is a new latch (about $100 new).
