First dealership noted it on the post repairs inspection sheet at 74000 miles. Second dealership refused to acknowledge a problem because they were short staffed, yet still want to charge the diagnostic fee. I checked online and found one person that had this issue before who posted on a vw blog: site.https://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=430031
Definitely a frustrating issue that at times can be unbearable. The dealer kept my car for more than an extra week just to wait for their one technician to diagnose it. They said the button has to be pressed directly in the middle to work. I had the car for almost 5yrs, I know how it works and when it is not working like usual. Especially considering that a VW dealership who had the car 24hrs before Maguire VW dealership had gone so far as to note it on the inspection sheet. The service guy himself when asked if he tried pressing the button anywhere else than the center stated "once my finger accidentally hit the edge of the button and it didn't work" LOL. Why this is even an argument is passed my logic. I am not sure what your site does but VW of America is a waste of time since they have no power over anything and the dealers can continue acting and doing however they like, with no brand standard for quality control in place.
