As other owners have noted, there is a documented, demonstrated issue with 2006-2008 BPY (engine code) 2.0t VW and Audi motors in which the engine destroys the cam follower in short order (<20K miles in some cases). Audi and VW have acknowledged the issue and issued a warranty extension for many, but not all of these cars.
My car was denied extended warranty coverage. The technician who I brought the issue to and VWoA have agreed that my car has the same engine, components, and failure condition as other, warranty covered cars, but inexplicably, my VIN is not covered under the warranty.
