Brought complaint to dealer starting at 10,155 miles. Said problem was normal and no repair needed. At ~110,000 miles rear transmission main seal went out along with Megatronics sensor. Manufacture/dealer would not cover under warranty even though I had purchased the extended warranty when I purchased the car new. I paid to fix the problem. At ~113,000 miles car went into neutral while backing up. Nearly rolled into another vehicle when car went into neutral because of slight incline. After turning car off and then restarting, computer corrected issue. I immediately made call to dealer, but couldn't get in for three days, Dealer ran diagnostic at my cost of $85 . Diagnostic report states that gear box has experienced a problem. Dealer anticipates problem will reoccur and cost to fix gear box will be ~ $2,400.
From investigating on line the Megatronics unit is a common issue and recommended fix was to have it replaced. From reviewing online there were concerns that the defective Megatronics unit could cause other transmission problems. I believe because the manufacture refused to fix the Megatronics unit under warranty and this has led to both master seal failure and gearbox issues. It should be noted that to fix the Megatronics unit the master seal would have to be replaced. Now I'm not sure whether the dealer said the main seal was bad just so I would pay to replace defective Megatronics unit. Love the EOS but not sure how to proceed. I will contact manufacture directly to request assistance.
