I am 81 yrs. old. I am on Social Security. I drove my previous mini van for 14 yrs. with no problems. I borrowed $10,000 on my house to purchase a car. I had to finance more money because I fell in love with the cute EOS convertable, and thought it would add a little fun to my life. The dealer told me " the motors on the top are really expensive" and sold me a warranty which would cover anything. Auto Plaza LIED. There was a small hole in the leather passenger seat, which I repaired with vinyl. The top was not working properly, but I was told the warranty would fix it. ANOTHER LIE. The passenger seat kept getting more holes until now, it is totally destroyed. After a rain, I noticed water on the seat, and carpet. I called the warranty people to be told it would not fix any part of the top. I have an estimate of $570.00 for a roof gasket, and was told that may not fix it and they would not know until they got into the job. I was also told this problem could occur again. The leak has gotten worse, and I have covered my car with a sheet of plastic and do not drive it when it rains. I don't know what to do, since I have little money, and can not afford large repair bills. I realize I was stupid to get in such a mess, but the passenger seat is shredded , the car leaks, it is always steamed up when I need to drive it, and I keep a plastic sheet on the seat, and a towel for the steam and water which collects in the car. I feel Volkswagen should fix these defects. What am I to do???
Update from Jan 27, 2016: My car is still leaking. Auto Plaza told me "replacing toe motors on the hard top convertible is very expensive and I could buy a warranty which would cover everything foe $1400.00. It was closing time and he was shoving all the papers at me to sign. I later realized he had charged me $2000.00 for the warranty. I made a trip to the dealership asking if the warranty would cover the repair on the top and was told "Oh yes- this is a great warranty" ANOTHER LIE! The warranty covers nothing. I sent paper to Auto Plaza on Dec. 30,2015 for cancelation. As of Jan. 25, 2016, this has not happened. The repair for my roof will cost more than $500.00 and I have not been able to get the money together, so I am covering my top with plastic to keep the water out. The leather passenger seat is totally destroyed. Every time someone sits on it the cracks spread. this is from the water. I am told a leather slipcover will cost $700.00. I am in a nightmare and don't know how to get out.
