This water leak has persisted for at least a year. We discovered condensation on the inside of the windshield and rear window (turned to ice in the winter). Upon my own investigation (no thanks to the dealer, but thanks to various VW forums), I found that the carpet was soaked, only on the drivers side. So much so I had to use a shopvac to dry it out. I discovered the leak coming from where the top meets the windshield post on the drivers side. The forums also mentioned leaks in various other areas of the car including the trunk wheel well.

I checked and found almost 2 inches of standing water in the trunk. I have no idea how long the water was there (never had the occasion to use the spare.) However, as you can see from the photo of the pump, which is located in the wheel well, it must have been a long time (months possibly over a year.) Car Shield denied my claim saying it was an act of nature. They aren't worth (expletive!) I have two cars supposedly covered by them and I'm cancelling both policies as soon as I get through here. They are nothing short of a ripoff as far as I'm concerned. My next step is to go after VW corporate.
