The contact stated while pulling over to the side of the road, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated she waited 30 minutes to restart the vehicle and drove the vehicle home. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated and the white smoke coming from the exhaust recurred. The contact stated she took her vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as a faulty turbo unit. The dealer island Volkswagen (1632 island blvd, staten island NY 10305) was contacted for parts. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 113,000.
