Car was purchased new, March 1999, with standard 2 year, 24K mile warranty. In April 2001, the passenger door stopped locking, the dealership took 3 days to figure out the problem. In June '01, there was a leak in the hydraulic line for the power roof. In August, the hydraulic pump for the power roof went bad. Problems with the roof I can understand, but in June 2002, the STARTER went bad, with only 38K miles on the car. Now, it's August, and the passenger side power window motor has gone bad. The window is still not working, as the VW service manager has not returned my call. An independent repair shop told me it will cost $700 to fix it! Thus far, all I have had to pay for is 50% of the starter, as VW has acknowledged that "these things should not have happened on such a new car", but the inconvenience is ridiculous, esp. since it takes min. 2 weeks to get the car into the dealership repair shop! I've had it up to HERE with this car. Has anyone else endured such problems with their Cabrio??
