I am very frustrated with this problem. I was told after the timing chain failed and didn't allow me to start my vehicle that there was an extended warranty but it expired at 100,000 miles. My car is currently at 112,000 and I was never told about this faulty timing chain part until it failed me. The most frustrating part is that VW knew about this problem and will not help me cover the cost for repair. The VW dealership told me that the repair will be anywhere from $3,900-$9,000! I called the headquarters and they are doing nothing to help me! I have had other problems with this vehicle but none to this extent. I used to love VW, but I will NEVER buy one again! Lesson learned!

The service advisor did not tell me it has shown a problem by skipping a tooth or that there was an upgraded tensioner. They sent me down the road. The check engine light came on, and I went back to Keffer dealer and the timing jumped in their shop. Instead of the advisor sending down the road, they said they would fix it for free - but still charged $1300 as a deal.

I found out last week that the repair should have been done for free by another dealership. It also showed me that the engine was repaired incorrectly with the wrong sealant, oil leak and other issues. And now trans problems and oil leak - est was $14000 to repair to pass inspection. WTF I have to buy a new car now... my CC only has 70000 miles. What a shame!

I have had numerous problems with my VW CC, in addition to the very expensive $3,000 repair for the Timing chain tensioner. After reaching out to VW Customer "Care" in June, 2018 for information about possible reimbursement on the timing chain tensioner, I was told by the Customer Care representative to submit receipts for repairs on the fuel injectors and manifold intake because they were under some sort of warranty. I did not ask about this, they VOLUNTEERED the information to me. I did that and was told i would hear something in 60 days. Well, 60 days passed and i did not receive any response.

I contacted them and was told that I would definitely hear something in another 14 days? Well, 14 days passed and NO WORD! I contacted the VW Customer Care once again via email. I was told that a letter was sent to me and that US Mail takes 10-14 days to arrive????? I contacted them again and informed them that unless something is lost in the mail, nothing takes 10-14 days (I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THAT LETTER)! The letter I was told included information that the repairs had to have been performed BEFORE SEPTEMBER, 2013!!!! I informed them that THEIR own representatives gave me this information about getting reimbursed for these repairs and that I did not purchase the vehicle until 2011!!!!! Of course, the answer was, "thank you for being a part of the VW family, but there is nothing that we can do for you".

RUN FROM THESE CARS IF YOU SEE THEM AT THE DEALER!!!!!!

I GOT MINE OCTOBER 2016 I WAS SUPER EXCITED BECAUSE THE INTERIOR RESEMBLED THAT OF A MERCEDES BENZ. HOWEVER, THIS CAR HAS BEEN A HEADACHE FROM DAY 1. THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF ELECTRICAL ISSUES TO BEGIN WITH. MY TRUNK STOPPED WORKING, IT WOULDN'T OPEN. THE AC AS WELL, AND THE WINDOWS WOULD STOP WORKING, SOMETIMES THE RIGHT SOMETIMES THE LEFT WINDOW. ANYWAYS I WAS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CA WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR COMPLETELY TURNS OFF! I WAS IN SHOCK AND I WAS STARTING TO PANIC. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PUSH IT TO THE SIDE AND GET A TOW TRUCK. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN AND THAT IT BLEW THE PISTONS, VALVES, AND BASICALLY MY ENTIRE ENGINE WAS TOAST! REPAIRS WOULD BE $4500!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT AND TO MY SURPRISE I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER THINKING I WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY! NOPE I WAS WRONG, IT HAD BEEN A WEEK SINCE MY WARRANTY WAS UP!! I ENDED UP FIXING IT FOR $3500 WITH ANOTHER MECHANIC.! NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE
