Car would not start but battery was good. Issue seems to be localized to the transmission as it eventually started after messing around with the shift lever. After starting I was unable to shift out of park and I think this is a sensor locking the shiftier.

When attempting to start the vehicle, placing the key into the ignition, there is a delayed start, or no start condition. A message appears in the vehicle display screen "defective steering column lock". the vehicle is disabled and unable to start. This is an unsafe condition for manual transmission vehicles, if stalling occurs while in an intersection, and the operator is unable to re-start the engine, and the steering wheel locks.

I was driving on interstate 95 in South Florida about 70mph in heavy traffic when the engine suddenly died. After coasting a short distance trying to avoid being hit by overtaking vehicles, I was fortunate enough that a fhp officer arrived and helped me off the road. Once to the side of the road I was able to restart the car and continue to my destination.

I was driving 65 mph on the freeway when the car, "with out warning"the car decelerated and stopped. It was in drive, I had to put it in park and restart it. I was very lucky not to get hit. This is a major issue and needs to be addressed. I am taking it to the dealer today. 09/27/2010.
