I purchased my beautiful gecko green VW convertible beetle in February 2015 and luckily got the extended warranty. Within the first month (and it's cold here in ND in winter) the passenger window started grinding and wouldn't roll up/down properly; it would stick both ways. The dealership 'happily' paid for a new regulator. A few months into owning my prize the driver window started doing the same thing only worse. A few moments after I would take off I'd hear a loud pop like someone threw a large stone and hit my window. I'd have to roll the window down and back up for it to close completely (reminder-freaking cold here!). Same problem but this time VW required that I pay the extended warranty deductible - what the??, extended warranty within the first 6 months of my 1 year warranty? I finally gave in and paid it!

Within the month of getting the 2nd window fixed the driver side rear window broke!! I put the top down and when I rolled the back window down, it got stuck half way. It wouldn't go up or down, then suddenly fell down and was done working. BACK to VW, this time telling them I do NOT plan to pay another dime. Waiting for a week now for them to get the part in. WHY NOT JUST REPLACE THAT FOURTH WINDOW BEFORE IT BREAKS TOO? They say they can't fix wasn't not broke. Great, I'll be ass deep in snow when this one goes. As far as the costs to me - I consider my TIME, GAS and taking off of work in this as well.

I love my VW BUG - wanted one since high school. Time to trade in already. That sucks.

This should be a recall item for all convertibles. Each rear window repair cost is approx $150.00 each front window about $5-800.00. each door lock $400.00 (this is what makes the windows drop about 1/2" so door can open and close while top is up)..In Short by the time you pay off the car you may easily spend another $5400.00 on window and lock repairs alone. This is poor workmanship of components. The last thing you need to worry about is not being able to put your convertible top down in California because the power windows malfunction.

My daughter and I took a trip to Panama City Beach this summer. We decided to put the convertible top down. As you know when you unlock the top the windows automatically come down . Well my driver's side back window was already messed up and being held up with a locking suction up. Well the passenger side back window went further down than it should have and would not come back up. We were hundreds of miles away from home so I grabbed the window and pulled up while she held the up switch. It was making that very familiar grinding noise that I have been accustomed to hearing. We got the window back up and got home with it. I contacted customer service and they pretty much said there were no other complaints so there was no recall but that they would make a report of my complaint. Basically they told me that it wasn't under warranty now and they couldn't do anything to help me.

My back driver's side window started making a grinding noise and since I had just replaced the front window regulator about six months prior I knew what the problem was. This time the window fell halfway down and would not come up. When we finally did get it back up it would slip down every time I hit a bump in the road. I did take it to the dealership this time and they did confirm that it was the regulator. I was given a price quote of about $1100. I did not get it fixed because I could not afford it. I had someone tell me to go to Harbor Freight and purchase a locking suction cup. I still can't afford to get it fixed.

All of a sudden my driver's window starting making this awful scraping whirling sound when it was rolled up or down, One day I rolled it down and it wouldn't come back up. I took it to a glass place and they told me it was the window regulator but that they wouldn't touch it because it was too involved and they didn't want to be held responsible. I took it to a local shop and they ordered the part and fixed it for me. I would have taken it to the Volkswagen dealership but they are way to expensive and even though my car had less than 30,000 miles the factory warranty had expired because it was over the 3 years. I bought my 2009 car in Nov 2010 with less than 10,000 miles on it. Actually it was between 6,000 and 7,000.

Well yesterday the final window, the front passenger window started making that grinding noise just like the previous three windows. I already have 2 rear windows that don't work that I can't afford to fix. Now I have a front passenger side window that I am afraid to roll down. My car has less than 33,000 miles on it and all four window regulators have gone out. You can't tell me that it is a coincidence!!! All four of my windows have the same problems with regulators. Volkswagen does not care and will not help me. I can't possibly afford to replace 3 window regulators. I am still making payments of this car. I don't know what to do.

So the driver window just inexplicably and without warning or provocation goes down on it's own. It also goes back down when you try to put the window up. The window regulator was replaced after the window got stuck in the down position, but it didn't fix this issue. The VW people say its the motor, but since they cant routinely duplicate it, it's not their issue. I'll never own another VW...trash ass piece of garbage. It's even worse in the winter.

I was having problems opening and closing my drivers side window!!!! Now it is

stuck down, I can not roll it back up!!!! I had a mechanic look at it and he said it

is the window regulator... He also told me VW has had several and I mean thousands of

complaints about this and this should be covered under the recall... I called VW and they said

it is not there problem!!! This is going to cost close to $1000 dollars to fix!!!!! They should have

to pay for this!!!!
