The Beetle quit running over a year ago. Had to continually charge battery or replace battery. Had mobile mechanic stop by and wouldn't fix it saying electrical problems or what they said didn't go with what was wrong with car. Finally took to dealer. Started off saying $300 the max, then price kept going up.
Car won't go to sleep and that is why running through batteries and have to repeatedly charge it. They said problem was under headliner and asked when it was replaced (4 yrs ago) then they said both doors, fixed that and then saying dash cluster. The dash cluster had to match perfectly and all info would be sent to Germany. Still waiting!!!
Car went to dealer 12/26/17 and its 2/10/18. Now they said they would get part from junk yard. NO, NO, NO, cause they said it had to match perfectly and we don't want to drive out of dealer lot and car repeats the electrical problems. We'd be stuck and broke. Is anyone else having these sleeping problems with their VW's.
This is my daughters 1st car and she LOVES it. It runs great when running, but she hasn't driven it for well over year, because she is afraid of being stranded. Getting worried that dealer will insist car be removed unfixed or improperly fixed. Car already had problems stalling, lights flashing, etc, but thought it was all related.
