This VW Beetle is not safe to drive. When the problem happened, I contacted VW by phone, email, and letters. They will not stand behind this faulty car. It was less than 3 months out of warranty and under the mileage warranty by 1,500 miles. This car has been at Import Connections in Mills River, NC for 8 months. The owner of this auto repair business has been trying to get some information from representatives of VW with no success. The car downshifting has happened to me 3 times. Each time I had to have the car towed. After the car cooled down, it could be driven approximately 8-10 miles and then the same thing would happen. This unsafe downshifting happened one time on Interstate 26 at 60 mph. Bad!
I have been a loyal VW owner, My father was a loyal VW owner. My daughter has a VW. Not anymore!
Greg Parham, at Import Connection, has in for repair 3 other VW that have similar problems. VW needs to accept their responsibility for this fault in their cars. Somebody could get hurt or killed-maybe already has. Who knows?
