2002 VW Beetle turbo 1.8 while driving the red light sensor would come on stating my car was overheating. Nothing was leaking, sensors were replaced a few months prior due to the same issue along with a ring and it happened again. The red light flashes then about 2 miles later the oil light goes on and if the car is not pulled over immediately then you risk engine damage. The entire engine is made up of plastic parts pretty much which crack and melt very easy when heat gets to them. So now after spending money on water pumps, assemblies, hoses, sensors which total over 3K it is now an issue once again and the car is undrivable. I am extremely disappointed in this vehicle. Also my igniter coils were replaced 8 times (2X each one) prior to a recall and they do not reimburse you all the monies spent. Now there is a recall in my sunroof which the dealership will not fix since the water damage is already affecting the roof of the vehicle. So with all of my receipts not including rental cars for repairs only I have invested over 6K in a car worth less and I doubt no one will pay to take it off my hands which will leave a single mother car less.

I am an owner of a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle. My seatbelt light came on. I brought car into greenbrier Volkswagen dealership located in chesapeake, va in Feb 2009. I was informed that the latch (buckle) on driver's side seat was defective. I had dealership replace. One month later seatbelt light came on again. I brought car back to dealership. I was told by dealership that passenger seatbelt latch (buckle) was defective. I called dealership and spoke with my service rep brent from greenbrier Volkswagen and he stated "this is a known problem with Beetles" I asked him if it is a known problem on a importation safety device of a seatbelt was is there no recall on vehicle to replace defective seatbelt latches. He was unable to provide me an answer. I now have concerns with not only my vehicle safety, but all who drive Beetles. I would like to know if this is a known problem if will there be a mandatory recall.

Transmission replaced three times, still not working properly, lunges into forward and reverse, and will drop into and out of high and low gear when driving. Sunroof leaked because the drainage tubing was not connected at factory causing water damage to leather seats and now mold is growing inside of vehicle, making it difficult to be inside and have had one sinus infection already.
