My mechanic did a diagnostic on this and said maybe the sensor was bad. He said it was safe, but something about driving down the interstate at 70 mph with an airbag light on is a little unnerving to say the least. What if it suddenly deploys? Not my idea of fun.
For the second time, our airbag light has come on in our 2000 VW Beetle. This time, however, they charged $85 to run diagnostics only to tell us that something must have rolled under the seat and "tripped" the airbag sensor. So, $85 later, they "reset the sensor".
