We're replaced oxygen sensors, mass air flow sensors, and various other electronic components associated with the fuel injection and emissions systems a number of times. A few repairs were covered by VW, but only within the first 20,000 miles. Then it was our problem. We've owned seven VW's. This (last) one was purchased new, never abused, and will be our LAST VOLKSWAGEN product, as the quality control and parts quality has gone completely to crap. They just don't build 'em like they used to, indeed!!!
