DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON AN ATLAS!!! I have to admit, I fell in love with this car as soon as I saw it advertised. I owned a Nissan Pathfinder 2013 for about 4 years, and it started having transmission problems. It got replaced/rebuilt about 5 times. Needless to say, it was time for a new vehicle for me and family.
My husband was hesitant to get this car due to the short time in the market and therefore, lack of history and/or reviews on this vehicle. I should've have listened but I didn't! which makes me more upset.
Anyhow, we purchased the Atlas SEL with 208 miles on it, and three weeks later, on a Sunday morning, out with the family, the car came to a complete stop on the Turnpike. It wouldn't move at all while the engine was on. We tried the SOS, and Service buttons on the car, and of course, they close on Sundays!! (Make sure to plan you car accidents and service issues on weekdays by the way LOL). Then we called Roadside assistance... we were stranded for about an hour.
The car was delivered back to the dealership.... the next day, Monday they called me and told me the transmission blew! and they were instructed to get it replaced... really? a brand new car! I told them I needed a replacement, and they said they have to go by what Volkswagen Corporate instructs them.....
Three days later, on Thursday, they deliver the car to me, and when I drove it, it had a grinding noise on the engine, and sounded like an OLD TRUCK! took it back to service, and long story short, my car has been three for three weeks now, because they had to replace the transmission a second time, because the new transmission was defective too! They couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from, and according to them, an engineer from VW went to the dealership and was able to replicate the noise, and advised to replace the transmission.
Be aware! DON'T buy an ATLAS! I must say the car is beautiful, is very comfortable. But it's not worth the money! VW needs to work on all the flaws on this car. It's a piece of JUNK!
