It seems that we have the full array of problems with our Atlas that many other people have with theirs. Our anti collision braking activates ALL the time with no reason or warning. Too many times to count on inclines in both drive and reverse, at slow speeds and HIGHWAY SPEEDS! We have been extremely lucky to have not been in an accident. We have 3 children under the age of 6 and they are in the car with us all the time. When the highway speed incidences occur it is very traumatic to them and to us as well. Usually with drinks and various items strewn across the car while trying to maintain control of the vehicle due to the lack of antilock braking during the emergency collision avoidance. Let me clarify... there is NO reason for the anti-collision braking to be activated.
Lane assistance steers us violently into different lanes. We end up fighting the steering as it is trying to "correct" our actions to get it back into the lane we were traveling in. Again with things being strewn all over the car and our children tossed back an forth violently in there booster and car seats. It's been taken to dealership 3 times for same issue and they can not get it to repeat itself and they say there are no malfunctions on the performance scans. NO KIDDING!!!! If it thinks it is doing nothing wrong there will be NO MALFUNCTIONS SHOWN IN SCAN. Dealership - nothing wrong, nothing fixed.
Side collision sensor activates when no car in lane next to us while changing lanes. Once again VIOLENT lane shifting of car while we fight the steering to regain control. This problem only happens at HIGHWAY speeds and usually in traffic. AGAIN things strewn all over car and us and children shaken up. It's been taken to dealership 3 times for same issue and they cannot get it to repeat itself and they say there are no malfunctions on the performance scans. NO KIDDING!!!! Transmission frequently doesn't shift from 2nd or 3rd to higher gear unless gas pedal is let up. We will let it tach at 4k rpm and it won't upshift. It's been taken to dealership 3 times for same issue and they cannot get it to repeat itself and they say there are no malfunctions on the performance scans. NO KIDDING!!! If it thinks it is doing nothing wrong there will be NO MALFUNCTIONS SHOWN IN SCAN. Dealership - nothing wrong, nothing fixed.
Coolant system is leaking. Have added coolant twice in 6 months and we can smell it frequently. Coolant now appears to be black in overflow canister. It's been taken to dealership 3 times for same issue and they can not get it to repeat itself and they say there are no malfunctions on the performance scans. NO KIDDING!!!! If it thinks it is doing nothing wrong there will be NO MALFUNCTIONS SHOWN IN SCAN. Dealership - nothing wrong, nothing fixed.
Cruise control speed assist (automatic reduction in speed when approaching slower vehicles). Car will slow down when 1/2 mile behind nearest car. Dealership said sensitivity set to its highest level, sensitivity reset only to have the same problem start recurring again and again after they reset.
Car tries to shut off when coming to a stop with automatic shut off deactivated. We have it deactivated because the car has shut off on one occasion while in use and we had to power down and restart engine to get going again.
