I bought my 2018 Atlas new from Lindsey VW in Sterling, Va. Within the first month I had to have a new fuel tank and fuel pump.
On Friday, I was driving through my a nearby town, approximately 25mph and the emergency brake suddenly engaged. This brought my vehicle to a complete stop in the middle of the road. I was not able to do anything until I turned the vehicle off and restarted it. This was extremely scary. In about 2 minutes I would have been getting on a major interstate and could have been struck and injured by vehicles traveling interstate speeds. Vehicles were able to avoid a collision in in this small town by going around me.
As I drove the vehicle home. The emergency brake engaged a second time as I was turning into my development. This time, after the vehicle came to a complete stop, it allowed me to continue without restarting the vehicle.
I called the local VW dealership and the service manager requested to see it. The vehicle was towed to their location. It has been there for several days and they are reporting that they can not recreate the problem. Seems that there is likely something more to it, as other people are having the same problem.
It is extremely scary, as I travel a lot for work, major interstates, etc. I am fearful that something is going to happen on one of these roads and it becomes a potential hazard to myself and others. Very scary.
