Our Meriva 1.3 CDTi blew up on the fast lane of a motorway on 5 March 2009 - Vauxhall say too much oil in engine, will not replace engine under warranty. Workshop say that it is a DPF problem which was not addressed. Apparently in August 2008 the dealership was told to do regeneration work on all Vauxhalls which intermittently displayed the DPF light. Our Car did display the light once, we followed the owners manual and drove at 40 m per hour for 10 miles the light went out and did not return. We have had an independent report and have had this confirmed, but the blame has been place on us for not checking the oil frequently enough and if we had noticed a change in oil level we should have took all the oil out and replaced it. The problem would have been avoided had we had the regeneration, however only MAIN dealerships were made aware and even if this was the case our car was serviced in April 08 so we could not have prompted this. PLEASE will you advise all other Meriva drivers, this error on our behalf has cost us in excess of 2.5 thousand pounds, if I can save one other person the hassle or prevent them being involved in a serious car accident then it will be worth it.
