This issue was brought to the attention of the dealership. They told me to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer told me it was the 20' wheel/tires that were installed by the dealer. They were not made by VPG. We needed to put on the original wheel/tire to see if that would solved the problem. I notified the dealer has original wheel/tire. I did not hear anything from the dealer. I filed a complaint with the BBB.
The dealer contacted me. They had two tire/wheels and were requesting two from the mfg. The dealer took alignment specifications with both sets of wheels/tires. They provided that information to the mfg. The mfg. response was that they were changing the specifications. They will not fix the problem. I am being told that this is normal wear and rotate the tires more frequently. The issues with this solution - additional service for rotating the tires, lower mpg because the rear wheels are not rolling in a straight pattern but being dragged, premature tire wear.
I spent $50k for this ADA approved vehicle to transport my spouse. The MV-1 is better to transport my spouse, the ease to get in and out, wheel to the front of the vehicle and feel normal being transported was a huge reason to purchase. I am not a rich person, I work 40 hrs. a week and am the sole caregiver for my spouse. It is quite expensive to support a disabled person and keep them in the home. The added time and expense of needing to deal with trying to stay ahead of tire wear is unreasonable for a brand new vehicle.
Per Goodyear, once the tire starts to wear improperly it is not correctable and you loose full tire life. The manufacturer telling me that my tires are wearing normally is not accurate.
