There is a strange whine / high pitched noise when taking off in 1st gear the first couple of times when you start driving. I have not had the car checked by the dealer yet as the issue is intermittent and may not be replicated when inspected. Doesn't appear to affect drivability, yet. The clutch also sometimes shudders when taking off in 1st gear. A couple of users on the Scion iA forum have said their trans was replaced under warranty.
