So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
My 2009 Yaris )manual transmission) sedan stalls randomly when I move from low to second gear, but I have noticed an increase with the onset of warmer weather. I bought the car in early may, 2009. I wrote to Toyota to complain about the problem and shortly received a call from the dealer, middletown Toyota, to arrange a visit to evaluate the problem. The head of the repair department and I took a long ride during which both of us drove, and there were no stalling incidents. The man told me the engine/transmission was computer driven and ambient temperature and humidity were factors in the performance of the car. There was nothing he could do to change the situation, he said. Yesterday March 17, 2010, I had the car out in 60-degree weather and it stalled 7-8 times, always when I needed to accelerate from a stop. It is scary when it happens. So far the engine re-ignites, but I wonder when the day will come when it stalls at an intersection and an accident occurs. I am writing because I feel this might be happening to other Yaris owners.
