This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Recurrent accelerator pedal failure (drive by wire) with check engine light warning. Occasionally, when accelerating, the check engine light comes on and the pedal depressing action initially has no effect for several depressions and then it works minimally. This may last for a while or for just a short period. It has happened several times. I did a search online and other people are having the same problem.
Accelerator on 2007 Yaris is sensitive at lower rpms making it difficult to start off in first gear causing a potential safety issue when starting off on a hill or steep grade. Was told by both the dealership and Toyota that there is nothing they can do, it's a design issue. The dealer did mention that they had received other complaints regarding the sensitivity of the accelerator. I've owned manual transmissions my entire life and although you expect differences in accelerator and clutch combinations, this is the worst I've ever owned.
