I Purchased my 2007 Toyota Yaris (Blue) in 2010 from a private seller.
I probably first noticed the paint on the roof becoming dull around two years ago and put wax on it the best I could, but it started rapidly deteriorating in the last four months or so. About a month ago I noticed the paint was a strange color-rust! (I may have noticed this earlier if I wasn't so short!). The paint is both cracking and peeling on the roof but also it is starting to appear dull and spotted on the bonnet and dull on the mirrors.
I took it to a panel beater to repair it and he took one look at it and deemed it a 'crappy respray job' post suspected damage.
He quoted me around $2600 (AU) or around half the resale value of the car to repair.
My car has spent time in the sun, but is shaded 2-3 days/week and I've seen much older cars with no such damage. I'm not sure what options I have now.
I have been happy with the way the car drives, but after four recalls, a squeaky drive shaft and now this, I am regretting my purchase a little!
