I have had a problem with the paint since 2012 and thought it was tree sap or bird poo, however online forums seem to indicate this problem is wide spread amongst Yaris owners. It is not a safety issue so Toyota will not recall the car for repair however it is a visibility issue and will lead a potential owner to think twice before purchasing a Toyota.
