Driving back home from work and at a speed of 65 in 70 limit zone, my sunroof exploded just after 10 minutes of leaving the office. I felt like a bomb blast above my head and in seconds, the glass started to fall on me. I couldn't control the vehicle and left the gas, pushed the hazard in panic and moved on to the emergency lane. I just feel thankful that there is no traffic on the right otherwise I would have hit or gotten hit.
Police and EMS came on scene and after seeing me conscious with a small bump on my head, made me calm down and asked me to take it to the dealership. I took pictures and went to the dealership. I was told that this has not been the first case and an exactly similar incident had occurred with the manager. They filed my complaint to Toyota Canada and next day, I received a call that my complaint has been denied that it's a Toyota manufacturer's defect.
I had to take the day off, buy the bus pass, and deal with the recurring headaches. I asked Toyota Canada to give me explanation and provide me an official letter stating the rejection and on which grounds so I was told that there is a process and I may not get anything until the process is followed. I was also told that nothing can happen if management denies and my case was denied by both the committee and the management. I am also asked to pay $1636 + GST for the repair of the glass which was my fault because I bought it and was driving it. It seems like Toyota should only sell cars to showcase them.
I do want to go with the Class Action Lawsuit and would like to call everyone who has faced a similar issue. If we don't take action, someone may get seriously injured or even die. I therefore call out an investigation to take place and compensation to be provided for all the loss and suffering to those who have faced similar issues.
