Just bought the Venza and within 3 days of sitting in the garage, the battery went dead. Charged it overnight, and then again, died in a few days. Pulled the battery and found it bulged (had froze), but had to charge it as the Toyota dealer wouldn't service it without it being in the car. The dealer put a scanner on it and said it was good. Good?
I will not take up any room to tell you the limitations of the traditional techniques to detect health of batteries, but one thing is for sure, Toyota has no concern for safety. By the time their tool would notice, my wife would be stranded somewhere. I wasn't going to risk that and replaced it myself. Even WalMart replaces bulged batteries....good grief.
