Overall, I have absolutely loved my Tundra and believe that the Toyota line of products is superior to most others in terms of reliability... however... having to spend $3,000 on an emission problem for a vehicle that recently turned over 100,000 miles is incredibly annoying. A lot of folks call this poor engineering. Maybe it is.

I have to assume thousands of engineering hours were spend developing and implementing this system. No product is perfect, but dang. This much money for a repair on a "reliable" brand is just hard to stomach. If it were a Subaru, I'd be spending that much money on new head gaskets. If it were my wife's car, it'd be a $1,000 timing belt. I get it, cars are expensive, but DANG IT. Not long ago, $3,000 could buy you a new engine or tranny. Now, it gets you a smog pump. Rad.
