Recalls have been issued for faulty spiral cables effecting airbag malfunction on model year 2009-2010 corolla, 2009-2010 matrix, 2008-2010 highlander, 2009-2010 Tacoma, 2006-2008 rav4 and 2006-2010 yaris vehicles. My 2009 Tundra crewmax that I just bought has this problem and has had it for two years according to the previous owner. Why is the Tundra left out of these recalls when obviously it is a problem with all Toyota autos in this time period
Takata recall have been getting calls and mailers for a few of years. Have called the dealership many time, . but have never received 'any' positive or negative response from them.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Tundra. When the ignition was started the contact observed that the air bag warning light remained in the off position. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on two occasions in which there were no service repairs performed for the malfunction. The technician stated that the fire extinguisher positioned on the floor of the vehicle caused the air bag to become nonfunctional. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for the third time for the identical failure. The technician recalibrated the air bag and it functioned properly for one week. The contact scheduled an appointment with an authorized dealer for the consistent failure. The failure mileage was 12,132.
