I wanted to post my problems with my 2008 Tundra. My engine blew up at 109000 miles. Had hauled to Toyota dealership who kept for over 3 weeks and wanted 9700.00 to replace engine. I opened a case with Toyota who had pictures sent to them from the dealership and concluded it was not a manufacturer defect. Toyota and the dealership could not see any reason for the engine failure. They both stated all fluids were good and maintenance to vehicle was kept up by a Toyota Dealer regularly. At that point Toyota said they closed the case. The dealership kept open for another week and half and came back with they would re-build the motor and pay for all parts. All I would have to pay is labor, which was 7200.00. I ended up paying 950.00 for work they had already completed and had someone else install used motor. This mechanic discovered on his own that the intake manifold had caused the whole problem. The baffles inside the manifold came apart and were sucked into the engine and damaged the valves and valve springs. I can't believe that Toyota would not be interested in finding out what happened to this truck. By the way, my truck had the tinging noise coming from the engine that other folks keep complaining about. It cost me 7000 to get this work completed, not to mention all the tow bills and rental cars while on this was going on. Just wanted to pass on my experience. Toyota has lost all respect in my book and I have been a loyal Toyota customer for years. I will go back to Ford when I can afford to get out of this truck.
