The brakes on my 2004 Toyota Tundra double-cab do not work properly (and never have). When you press on the brake pedal, the brakes make a loud noise (not the typical anti-lock brake noise) and do not stop effectively. I've almost ran into cars in front of me. I took it to stevinson Toyota, but they said the brakes were fine. They weren't. I took it pep boys and they replaced the pads & turned the rotors. It is better, but still bad. I think I'll get rid of the truck. Someone is going to get hurt with this brake situation on the truck model.
Rear bearing failure in 2004 Toyota Tundra, related parts ABS gear broke. Not able to control truck at a regular stop feels like truck wants to keep going. Also feels like the rear violently shifts. Number of vehicles with same problem are unknown. But is a ordinary thing according to local dealers!!!!!!!!!
While drivingthe vehicle skidded into the right lane. Driver applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and took vehicle to the dealer for inspection. However, mechanic insisted that the problem could not be duplicated.
