Badly rusted frame. Possibly eligible for recall (Toyota BXD, NHTSA #09V444). Mechanic noticed it and deemed it unsafe to drive. He contacted local dealer who declined to fix it. I contacted Toyota support and was told recall was expired. Need to know if I have any recourse.

My husband and I were waking up to his alarm that went off at 5 am and he hit the snooze, during the snooze time we heard what sounded like a handgun go off so we both jumped up and opened the door leading to the outside of the house and immediately seen my truck engulfed in flames, the headlights were on and my grandson and husband both got Water hose's and proceeded to put the fire out but it was so hot and we were afraid that the truck would explode if we got any closer. My next door neighbor called 911 and firetruck arrived to finish putting out the fire but the entire truck was completely melted, at least the cab. The firefighter helped get the hood open so that my husband could disconnect the battery because the headlights were still on and the battery was throwing sparks.

Discovered that Toyota tundra and other models possible use of defective product of airbag srs system, basis of preceding years and following years of producing models and other plants supply house. I am seeking replacement parts for airbags components and sensors and clockspring and repairs. Only had two warrant issues up to this date. Trailer towing package and high altitude air flow/ throttle position sensor. Resolve by manufacturer and dealership. Current affairs of airbag recall list and the accident reports of12/10/2009-2010 show no airbag deployment and were a serious relationship with the owners and the people affected. Research shows takata reviews for further information and details of the products and services for repairs. I have a 2000-2001 tundra and are looking at the possibility of "dummy airbags components" been installed and not working. Further, timing going out on double coil type ignition (original). jumpers to the next firing order coil. I have had to interim operation a single coil, primary, with jumper wire. Thank you very much. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The frame is damaged and was told my manufacture was supposed to replace with a new one. The truck looks to be bent in between the middle. I took it to my local dealer and they are having me pay for other areas and not replacing the frame even though it's under recall.

Previously recalled rusted cross member dropped spare tire on Massachusetts 495 hitting the vehicle behind me. 8/18 Toyota inspected cross members and frame and told me they all needed to be replaced and since they already did it once during recall they have fulfilled obligation. Truck recieved vehicle undercoating per campaign has had one crossember replaced and fuel straps. Truck is one owner with 74K miles and garaged. Truck inspected in 2014 and in 2017 noted no corrosion at multi point inspections from Toyota. 8/14/18 dealership noted crossmembers had rot that must be welded at an outside shop. Toyota dealership would not quote repair and not work on truck. Have 2 children 3 and 5, wife and I need a safe resolution from Toyota. The recommendation is repair at an outside shop for safety reason and I unable to find a shop to preform Toyota's recommendation and they will not work on vehicle.

My 2000 Toyota 4X4 frame has rust holes in it. It was spray coated in 2011 but that did not stop the rust. Toyota co. Told me the recall was closed in 2012. I purchased the truck in 2013. My dealership told me it is unsafe to drive. And would not fix it because Toyota co. Said it was no longer covered. I have photos to show the holes.

I have tried to get Toyota to replace my frame for about maybe six years. I have taken and had the treatment around the spare tire on the frame treated, and over a couple of year all of the black colored treatment just feel off on my driveway in charleston wv where I lived at the time. I went back to love Lexus and Toyota to have my frame checked to see if they could replace it according to the settlement of the 2000-2003 Tundra trucks.loves said my frame looked ok to them and they could not do anything at that time. This was about a year and a half ago. Now my left front side of my frame has a hole in the under neath side of the frame and the strut bar is ripping away from the frame...I called and talked to alexus, and al, and a higher up man in the company named rob, they would not give me better I.D. than that, I told him this story as I'm sure his underling al did, that is why rob called me on Aug 22nd and told me there were no avenues that he (rob) could see to help me.then I said would he help me trade for a newer truck and he (rob) said that would be up to me to do. My Tundra is undriveable and I think Toyota should fix it in the deal that was made for the 2000 to 2003 toyoya Tundra trucks. What do I do to get some help. Walk to whre I want to go" I am on disability and I have very bad conditions, and I don't make enough money to go buy a vehicle. I think if my vehicle meets their specs for repair my truck should be fixed!!!! I tried to find out the lawyers who won or settled this case and could not find any help in doing this" help from tony of huntington wv. Thank you.

Frame recall - the frame originally received the crc coating from kerry Toyota during the frame recall (unknown recall number and time of application). The coating has failed and as a result the steering rack mounts have separated from the frame due to rust. The bolt and mounting point are still together, but broken from the crossmember. I was driving down the road when there was a sudden change in how the steering was operating. It was causing me to wonder around in my line. I felt I had very little control on the steering. Once I pulled over and looked under the truck, it was apparent as to what happened. There is also significant rust damage to the left and right front frame assembly where the main cross member is attached to the frame. This is also where main suspension components mount to the frame. I believe the crc coating has done nothing to prevent the rust from destroying the frame as it was destroyed from the inside out. There are other sub cross members suffering the same rust damage along the frame of the truck. There are two mounts where there is complete separation between the frame and crossmember.

I have rust holes in the front section of my truck frame. Toyota refused to fix the problem because they only appear to cover the rear part of the frame. This is a dangerous condition and could cause a life safety condition when the frame fails.

Toyota has 3 recalls on my Tacoma. One of them include corrosion on the frame. However it is not covered because the corrosion is not at the right spot. The original report has the corrosion at the front with an opening in the frame. Now the corrosion has spread to the rear where the recall should cover. However, Toyota has stuck with their decision to not complete a recall. The frame is now very dangerous and will not even pass an inspection. I have not taken pictures yet because my truck is parked 2 county's away. I plan to go N Sunday with others to take these pictures so I can submit here again, to the us dot, and to Toyota again. In the meantime, anyone out there with this problem should be reporting it. The inspectors told me I was lucky I have not been seriously hurt. I have had my kids with me in this truck as well. Not sure when it started, but in 2 years, the corrosion has spread fast and this is in North Carolina. I put the inspection date as the date it was found below.

Due to rust, O2 sensors are bad, exuast system bad, left rear tire ball joint defective, emergency brakes defective, body frame has holes at left side, majority of frame is rusting. Per mechanics all this is stemming from the rust. Truck has low mileage, frame is crumbling in some places and is a danger to drive safely. Just went through inspection.exact date is unknown as to when this occurred.

Purchased 2000 Tundra in 2005. Was made aware of a recall by Toyota Corp regarding rust issues with vehicle frame, gas tank strap, and spare tire fastener. I brought the vehicle to a local dealer December of 2012 for the frame inspection (tank strap and spare tire issue repaired on a separate date). I was told that a full inspection took place to include disassembling the bed of the truck. I was told that no perferations were found in the frame. A spray foam kit was used to treat the frame. On 8/25/15, I was attempting to sell my truck when a prospective buyer noticed (2) significant holes in the frame located just in front of the driver side tire. The entire frame appears to have significant rust considering it is only 15 years old. Needless to say, a sale did not take place. I was fortunate to not be driving the truck with my family when a potentially catastrophic accident could have taken place. I contacted a local dealer (not the one that treated the frame). I spoke with the service manager. He stated that he would contact Toyota Corp but also stated that they may not replace the frame as it is 15 years old. He contacted me 2 days later stating that Toyota would not replace the frame or buy the vehicle back. The frame recall I referred to was not a recall according to Toyota. Rather, it was a, "good will gesture" to consumers affected by the situation. The service manager did suggest to look into finding a welder to see if they could repair it. Really?? mechanically, the vehicle is sound. I am left with scrap and out at least $4500 because I cant sell it the way it is. The important thing is that my family is still alive. What a sham. This is not right and they should be held accountable.

The threaded cable which connects the interior door handle to the latch assembly failed, making it impossible to exit the vehicle using the interior handle. A review of online forums for this model year Toyota Tundra reveals this is a common problem. Door handle failure as a result of regular use or trauma resulting from collision could render the vehicle inescapable in the event of an emergency. The cable connecting the interior lock to the latch assembly is solid, unlike the door handle cable which is threaded. I believe the design flaw is uses of threaded cable for the door handle.
