When driving it for a few miles then parking it, it won't restart. It will start again after waiting for a few minutes. It happens quite often. I'm afraid it might stall in traffic. Took it into the dealership twice where I bought it to get checked. They said the problem couldn't be found. They didn't say what they checked for the problem.
In the Toyota manual it says that if the truck can be started in the ignition accessory, something is wrong. It starts in accessory. I researched online and found some people had the same problems with 3rd generation Tacomas. Some common problems were the brake pedal switch, starter-solenoid, defective park safety switch, defective steering column lock, or fuses. Just a few. The truck's battery is good. My fob works fine. I put in a new battery in it last week. I push down on the brake pedal far enough to start the engine. If after my third trip to the dealership next week and nothing gets done, I will sell the truck. Won't buy another Tacoma.
I had a 2004 TRD for over 14 years and had no major problems except rust. I should not have to take the truck in to a local garage to get it checked out when having a warranty. What good is the warranty if a person can't get anything done to correct the problem at a dealership? Even after I complain on this site, nothing will get done. It's only good for statistical information. But it might help other Tacoma customers.
