My 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport with manual transmission has a severe hesitation during light and moderate acceleration in first and second gears where it's most noticeable.
If you shift into second gear just a touch too early the truck goes into a limp mode - then you need to either be patient, slip the clutch while hitting the gas pedal harder, or downshift.
The truck exhibits a lean condition starving for fuel - it will then surge in certain RPMs as well.
The dealer told me in the fall that there are no ECM updates for the manual transmission trucks.
This is a safety issue - putting the driver at risk and others at risk - where the truck doesn't accelerate normally / inconsistently.
