Drives me crazy that I have a Toyota Tacoma with less than 100k miles in need of such a major repair. I have been told by a reliable source that this is a common repair on the Gen 3 Tacoma. I have reached out to Toyota Corporate and they are waiting on me to get a second quote from another dealership. I am hoping for some relief from them with cost of labor (25 hour job) and parts ($1,500). The exact diagnosis I received is as follows. Cylinder #1 performed leak down test and fail…has bad valve seat. Recommend replacing passenger side head replacement. Total cost $7,875.67!!! I purchased a Toyota for reliability and resale value and sadly have not delivered this go around.
