This is a known issue at Toyota dealerships. The OEM forward differential leaks oil and, if left unchecked, can further damage the differential and cause more leaking till the vehicle becomes inoperable. The fix under warranty or through the dealership is to replace the part with another OEM, but, the new part will inevitably leak again. This is another $1500 at least for the part, then $3000+ in labor for them to either take out your engine to get to it through the top or get to it from under the vehicle. The final price they quoted me was $5500.
The proper and permanent fix, from what they told me, is to order and aftermarket part. They said it's cheaper than the OEM part and any other mechanic wouldn't charge as much as them.
I did not have this issue fixed. At some point I prayed about it and it stopped leaking. Waiting for the day the floodgates burst and my vehicle bricks.
