Not only was the repair cost high, $5,000, but I had to wait over a month for a new wiring harness from Japan. The truck could not be driven and sat at Green's Toyota. Toyota should have repaired the truck at no cost because they used a sub-standard material on the harness.
This soy based wiring problem has been brought to the attention of the car manufacturers. They are ignoring this and the insurance companies are paying for these repairs. My car was less than one year old and had to have the wiring redone at a cost of $602.14. This only repairs the problem, doesn't prevent further problems. After having the repair, found that there is a "tape" that can be wrapped around the wiring...at an additional cost, I'm sure.
