Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,000 miles

I have 7700 miles on my brand new Toyota Tacoma. About two months ago I developed a vibration under my feet when I got to @ 25 MPH. It increases when going up hill when the truck is pulling. I've taken it to the dealer where I purchased the vehicle, Mueller Toyota in Clinton New Jersey. The first time I took it the serviceman went out with me and confirmed the vibration under his feet. They told me that the aggressive tire tread was making the vibration, they said my rear wheels were not balanced, they rebalanced them and I took a test drive before I left the dealership. The vibration was still there. They said give it a week or too to settle down now that they were rebalanced. Two weeks later I returned to the dealer and again complained about the vibration. After sitting in the waiting room for about a half hour the serviceman came and ask me to go for a ride with him. I was surprised to find they had taken my tires off and put on four used tires from another Tacoma that was on the lift with its tires removed. I was not happy. They said they wanted to prove to me that they feel it is the tires. We went out and the vibration was still there! They then had me drive another Tacoma with about 30,000 miles on it and I did not feel the same kind of floor vibration I was experiencing in my truck. I was then told what I was feeling was "harmonic engine vibration" which was perfectly normal. I told them if I would have experienced anything close to that when test driving my vehicle they would still be selling it! Yesterday I went to Milham Toyota in Pa., right near my house. The service manager told me there definitely was a vibration and told me the regional manager was visiting today and I should bring it in to take a test drive with him. I took the truck in today and the dealership service manager went out with me and again confirmed there was a vibration. He said he would meet with the regional manager and I was told to wait in the waiting area while he met with him. After about 45 minutes he came and got me and told me that he went for a ride with the regional manager and that the vibration I am feeling is perfectly normal. I told him that it was totally unacceptable and that I would begin the process of registering it for lemon law consideration. I purchased a 8 yr, 1000,000 mile warranty when I purchased the truck last July. In doing some research on line, I have discovered that this has been an ongoing problem with the Toyota Tacoma drivetrains. I am totally disgusted with Toyota's failure to acknowledge this problem. DONT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF PURCHASING A TACOMA UNTIL YOU RESEARCH THIS ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THEIR DRIVETRAIN DESIGN.
