I was told a NEW radio was installed, only to find out that a REBUILT radio was used in my NEW Tacoma. Toyota of Escondido told me 3 times a NEW radio would be installed. The REBUILT radio is now experiencing the same problems that the 1st radio had. I have taken it back to the dealer for the 5th time and was told that because Toyota of Escondido could not "duplicate" the problem, no action was needed. Dan, the service manager at Toyota of Escondido stated that "If i'm not happy with their service, I should go elsewhere". I have been in contact with the National office and they are useless. Toyota knew of the electrical problems with the Radio's and refuses replace the REBUILT radio with a NEW one which I was promised. I now have to wait for the Radio to fail before Toyota of Escondido and the National Toyota office will move on this.
A word of advice: When you are told that a defective part is being replaced with a NEW one, get it in writing. Make sure you inspect the part for a stamp on the back that will tell you if its NEW or REBUILT. Toyota does not like the term "REBUILT" they prefer RE-MANUFACTURED. Apples and Apples, they both mean the same thing, USED PARTS being installed in NEW VEHICLES.
